Ration Card Rules: The Government of India runs many schemes for the people of the country. Different people of the country get the benefits of different schemes of the government. The government brings most of its schemes for the poor and needy people of the country. Even today there are many people in India who are unable to eat even two meals.
The Government of India provides ration to such people at a very low rate under the National Food Security Act. For this the government issues ration cards to the people. With the help of which people are able to avail the facility of ration at low cost. The Food Department has made changes in the items available on the ration card. So this big change will happen from January 1, 2025.
Now the rules have changed for ration card holders
Changes have been made regarding the ration available at low prices under the National Food Security Act. The quantity of ration which was given earlier has now been changed. If we talk about it, earlier 3 kg rice and 2 kg wheat were available in one unit. Now it has been reduced to 2 kg wheat and 2.5 kg rice, that is, half a kg rice has been reduced.
So, half a kilo of wheat has been increased, although the unit in which earlier 5 kg ration was available is only 5 kg. Antyodaya ration card holders get 35 kg ration which includes 14 kg wheat and 21 kg rice. Changes have also been made in this, now 18 kg rice and 17 kg wheat will be given in the Antyodaya card. Although the quantity of ration remains the same. But wheat has been increased by reducing rice. These rules have come into effect from November 1.

E-KYC mandatory before January 1
The Food Department has issued information to all ration card holders regarding getting KYC done. It is mandatory for all ration card holders to get e-KYC done. Those ration card holders who do not get e-KYC done, their ration cards will be cancelled. Let us tell you that the government had earlier given a deadline for this till 1st October, which was later extended till 1st November. So now this deadline is till 1st December, that is, all the ration card holders will have to get the KYC of the ration card done before 1st January 2025. Otherwise, they will stop getting the facility of free ration and low cost ration.
